STOCKTON, CA - One person is dead and two injured after a shooting on southbound I-5 near the Mt. Diablo exit Tuesday afternoon.

The victims were in the same car when another car started shooting at them, Stockton police Lt. Joe Rocha said.

One of the victims was dropped off

22-year-old Johhny E. Reaves died from gunshot wounds sustained in the incident. A 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were injured in the shooting and their condition is stable at the hospital, Rocha said.

A car at St. Joseph's Hospital, which most likely belonged to the victims, had 10 bullets holes in it.

Rocha said it is unclear if the victims fired shots back.

STOCKTON, CA - A 22-year-old man hoping for a trip back to his home in Arizona selected a strange way to make it happen.

Police said Lidy Keyontae threw a "softball size" rock at the front glass door of Stockton Police Department building on East Market Street Monday night, thinking
...more an arrest would get him shipped out of state.

The window was so heavily damaged a large piece of plywood was blocking it Tuesday.

Keyontae was later located and arrested on vandalism charges, Lt. Joe Rocha said.

The arrest didn't earn Keyontae a trip anywhere near Arizona. He was taken to the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA - The California Department of Justice confirmed that human remains separately recovered from property near San Andreas are Cyndi Vanderheiden and Chevy Wheeler.

The victims were uncovered on land once owned by the family of Wesley Shermantine who is on San
...more Quentin's Death Row for their murders.

Maps provided by Shermantime led to the discoveries Feb. 9 and 10.

The bones were preliminarily identified by a forensic dentist.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department Deputy Les Garcia said arrangements were being made to return Vanderheiden and Wheeler to their families.

Meantime, sheriff's searchers have completed their excavation of an abandoned well in Linden where 1,000 bone fragments have been unearthed in the continuing investigation of other victims of Shermantine and partner Loren Herzog. They're looking into a second and possible third well for other remains.

STOCKTON, CA - The first phase of Stockton's Marshall Plan is having some success with nine people being arrested over the past four weeks.

The arrests have come after U.S. Marshals joined Stockton police with the assignment of arresting the city's most serious criminals.

"We
...more know these people are responsible for a lot of violence," police spokesman Pete Smith said. "Anytime we can get them off the streets there's a positive impact."

The name Marshall Plan, comes from the phrase used after World War II when Europe needed rebuilding. The name does not refer to U.S. Marshals working with local police.

Of the nine people arrested, one of them was on a so-called top 10 list of targets. Pitsamai Chansuriya was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse, child endangerment and terrorist threats.

Other elements of Stockton's Marshall Plan have not yet come together. A committee of 20 people that will direct the plan hasn't met and

STOCKTON, CA - Two women from the Central Valley are watching the search for human remains east of Stockton very closely.  Both of them have daughters who've been missing for years.

Susan Bender of Modesto was just 15 when she disappeared in 1986.  Although a family acquaintance was
...more long suspected, he was never charged, and now Susan's mom Patricia Chupco can't help but wonder.

"I've been keeping tabs on letters that Shermantine's been writing.  He said from '84 to '86, there are people from Modesto buried out there," said Chupco.

After more than 10 years on death row for four murders, Wes Shermantine is finally offering information about where victims can be found.

Two sets of remains were found a week and a half ago in Calaveras County.  Those remains have been tentatively identified as Cyndi Vanderheiden and Chevelle Wheeler.  Near Linden in San Joaquin County, about a thousand bones and bone fragments have been uncovered.
