ROSEVILLE, CA - Christopher Jon Michael Northam, 25, of Roseville was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant charging him with his father's murder in May 2011, according to Roseville police.

Northam's ex-wife Averil Elizabeth Easly, 34, of Roseville was also arrested on a Placer

Northam's father, Christopher Dale Northam, 44, was found shot to death on May 20, 2011 by Roseville police officers responding to a call of shots fired inside the Skim X indoor sports building at 8292 Industrial Ave.

Following a comprehensive eight-month investigation that included examination of financial records, interviewing witnesses and eliminating other suspects, detectives found Northam had killed his father for financial gain, said Gunther.

Easley is suspected of giving "false and misleading" information to officers, resulting in

I don’t know if there is anything I look forward to more than the flowers of February. I love all flowers all the time, but there is something special about the first daffodils and tulips of the new year. These days we see tulips earlier in the fall and further into the spring, but some of the finest specimens of the season are here now — just in time to brighten our world.

CARMICHAEL, CA - The disappearance of a Carmichael woman last seen on security camera video at an Indian casino Wednesday night is being called highly unusual by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Jason Ramos said Melodie Benton, 55, is considered at risk because no
...more one has heard from her and that is very out of character with her usual behavior.

Benton is Native-American, 5 feet 3 inches tall and about 150 pounds. She has long, straight, black hair and brown eyes.

When seen at the Red Hawk Casino in Shingle Springs about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Benton wore a bright green vest over a black turtleneck top and a black hoodie with white trim. She appeared to be alone, Ramos said.

Benton's car is a red and silver 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, California license plate number 4XOS962. There's a black Tasmanian devil decal on the driver-side rear quarter panel.

ROSEVILLE, CA - Roseville police may have interrupted a string of burglaries in northeast Roseville committed while residents were at home.

Monday morning at 5:12, a witness reported seeing an SUV parked the wrong direction in front of a neighbor's home on Milstead Way and an unknown

Later that morning, a resident interrupted a burglary at her home on Stone Canyon Drive in Rocklin. Gunther said the resident found a burglar in her living room with her jewelry box in hand. She tried to grab the jewelry box and the burglar ran out the back door.

Gunther said Rocklin police and Roseville police developed information to check a home in Rocklin where they arrested suspect Alexander Michael Souron, 21, and recovered stolen items.
