It is always an honor and encouragement to meet someone who is dedicated to serving people and making the world a better place. Each year when we receive our Paint-It-Forward nominations from the community, we are introduced to many such people, and we have the pleasure to choose someone from
...more among them to serve with a free painting project.
This year’s chosen recipients are Roy and Bobbie Baker, of Turlock, who have dedicated more than 15 years of their lives to serving children through foster care. Opening up their home and showing unconditional love to vulnerable and sometimes difficult children, they have shown true character and dedication.
According to Aspiranet, the nonprofit organization that the Bakers work with, Roy and Bobbie “are two of the most giving and kind people you can meet.” They work with children of all ages, providing individual care and attention to their various needs. While Roy has a full-time job outside the home, Bobbie devotes all of her time

STOCKTON, CA - Two women from the Central Valley are watching the search for human remains east of Stockton very closely.  Both of them have daughters who've been missing for years.

Susan Bender of Modesto was just 15 when she disappeared in 1986.  Although a family acquaintance was
...more long suspected, he was never charged, and now Susan's mom Patricia Chupco can't help but wonder.

"I've been keeping tabs on letters that Shermantine's been writing.  He said from '84 to '86, there are people from Modesto buried out there," said Chupco.

After more than 10 years on death row for four murders, Wes Shermantine is finally offering information about where victims can be found.

Two sets of remains were found a week and a half ago in Calaveras County.  Those remains have been tentatively identified as Cyndi Vanderheiden and Chevelle Wheeler.  Near Linden in San Joaquin County, about a thousand bones and bone fragments have been uncovered.
